Pooping is one of the most important appointments on the calendar, yet it is remarkably easy to forget. I know this because I often forget. Fortunately, I have developed a system that combines routine, posture, and Mama.
First, take the matter seriously
A busy cat has many demands: following Mama, crying for Mama, making biscuits on Mama, monitoring the treat cabinet, and occasionally ambushing Tiger. With so much happening, an ordinary bathroom responsibility can disappear from the schedule.
The solution is not shame. The solution is a repeatable process. If the same signal happens every day, there is less to remember and more time available for Mama.
The vertical method
When using a litter box, you want to be as vertical as possible. The ideal form begins with both front paws placed on the side of the box. From there, lengthen the body upward. This creates a dignified profile and keeps the front half of the cat focused on the task.
Some cats remain low inside the box. I do not criticize them. I simply believe they have not yet experienced the confidence that comes from standing tall during a private moment.
“Front paws on the side. Body vertical. Dignity intact.”— The Simba method
Use Mama as the timer
Mama goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth twice each day. This is the most reliable timer in the household. When she begins brushing, I report to the litter box. If I keep my schedule connected to hers, I never have to remember alone.
There is an additional benefit: family time. Mama brushes her teeth while I handle my own bathroom responsibilities nearby. We are each completing an important routine in the company of someone we love. Mama appreciates this.
The complete Simba method
Hear the signalMama enters the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Report to the boxDo not postpone the appointment for treats or a nearby bag.
Place the front pawsBoth front paws should rest securely on the side of the box.
Become verticalStand as tall as possible and allow the posture to do its work.
Consistency is an act of love
My system succeeds because it does not separate personal wellness from family closeness. Mama's schedule becomes my schedule. Her bathroom becomes our shared routine. The result is consistency for me and companionship for her.
Remember: stand tall, secure the front paws, and listen for the toothbrush. Daily life is easier when somebody you love keeps the timer.
